Nepal's defence minister quits
Nepal's defence minister, Mahesh Acharya, has resigned, saying he'staking moral responsibility for the sacking of a former central bank governor now reinstated by the Supreme Court.
Mr Acharya is considered a close aide and advisor to embattled Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
He was the finance minister when the government sacked Tilak Rawal as the bank governor in August after differences between the two men over what they said were policy matters.
The bank governor appealed to the Supreme Court, which on Wednesday ruled the sacking was illegal and ordered the government to reinstate him to his old job.
