US diplomats prepare to meet crew of spy plane stranded in Chi

U-S diplomats are preparing to meet the crew of a American spy plane stranded in southern China.

Chinese officials say the crew has disembarked and has been taken to a nearby military base -- but they've refused to say whether the aircraft had been boarded by Chinese military personel.

The spy plane, which made an emergency landing after a collision with a Chinese F-8 fighter jet, is reportedly packed with the latest surveillance equipment.

Republican Congressman, Chris Cox says if the incident happened over international waters, China could be violating American sovereignty.

Much turns on whether or not it is in fact an incident that took place in international airspace because if it did then under normal international law and practice both commerical and military aicraft have sovereign immunuity. and it is a violation of us sovereignty for them even to board the plane.
