U-S team arrives on China's southern Hainan island A team of American engineers has arrived on China's southern Hainan island for the first inspection of a damaged U-S spy plane in more than a month. The U-S airforce team is assessing damage the spy plane sustained when it collided with a Chinese jet fighter on April the first. The Chinese pilot died in the accident; the 24 U-S crew men and women who landed on Hainan island were held for 11-days before being released. The inspection, say the Chinese, is no sign the Americans will get their plane back. That will come once compensation is discussed, something the US has ruled out. Foreign media in China, meanwhile, have been barred from visiting Hainan island during the U-S visit, and one television network is still trying to have returned a video-telephone confiscated during last month's crew departure. 2/05/01 22:01:26 | ABC Radio Australia News
