East Timor's Xanana Gusmao orders wanted posters torn down
East Timor independence leader Xanana Gusmao has ordered Australian peacekeepers to pull down "wanted" posters for three Indonesian militiamen.
Reuters news agency says Mr Gusmao believes the posters are jeopardising the reconciliation process.
The posters were erected in the western border towns of Balibo and Batugade.
One militia member, Paulo Goncalves, is wanted in connection with serious crimes committed in 1999 and for making death threats recently against locals and UN peacekeepers.
Some militiamen have been brought to trial but most of the key perpetrators fled to neighbouring West Timor or other parts of Indonesia.
East Timor is under UN administration -- it's expected to gain full independence next year.
