Muslim hardliners to lay seige to US embassy

An Indonesian Muslim group has urged millions of Muslims to lay siege to the US embassy in Jakarta after the strikes in Afghanistan.

The Islamic Defenders Front says it will beseige the embassy later today and has called on muslims to wage a holy war against the US and its allies.

The front has also called on Muslims to hunt down foreigners and destroy foreign interests if President Megawati Sukarnoputri does not sever diplomatic relations with the United States and its allies within 72 hours.

Foreign schools in Indonesia have closed indefinitely and the Australian and US embassies have issued warnings to their nationals to stay at home amid fears of anti-Western protests.
