Pakistan says it is no longer doing business with Taliban
Pakistan says it is no longer doing business with Afghanistan's Taliban -- but has not withdrawn diplomatic recognition. Pakistan also said the radical militia's sole remaining embassy, in Islamabad, remains open. However, Pakistani officials say the Taliban's consulate in Peshawar was being closed, leaving the Islamabad embassy and a consulate in the south-western city of Quetta as the embattled militia's only diplomatic missions. Peshawar is the gateway to the Khyber Pass leading into Afghanistan and Kabul. Earlier this month, Pakistan asked the Taliban consulate in Karachi to close down.
Pakistan was one of only three countries that had recognised the Taliban government, which until last week controlled more than 90 per cent of Afghanistan.
