Cambodia opens a new bridge to link roads to Vietnam and Laos
Cambodia has opened a new bridge which will connect to a road network into neighboring Vietnam and Laos.
Funded by Japanese aid money, the 13-hundred metre long Kizuna Bridge was opened by Prime Minister, Hun Sen.
Mr Hun Sen says the bridge will attract more foreign investment and tourists as well as linking western Cambodia to the less developed but fertile eastern region.
He says the bridge will provide an international gateway for the development of the sub-Mekong basin and help reduce the wealth gap between old and new members of the Association of South East Asian Nations.
