Kashmiri separatistsagre to set up commission to discuss Kashmir's fut
Kashmir's main separatist alliance has backed a decision by its leaders to set up an election commission for polls for representatives to discuss Kashmir's future with India and Pakistan.
The seven-member executive council of the All Party Hurriyat Conference -- an alliance of 23 separatist political groups -- decided to create the commission as a first step towards holding the polls.
However, six of the parties did not take part in the meeting. The polls would chose representatives to discuss Kashmir's future in trilateral talks with India and Pakistan. The Hurriyat says its commission would monitor the polls, to be held across Kashmir, including the Pakistan-administered zone of the Himalayan region. No timeframe has been set for the proposed elections.
