Sri Lanka's PM expects peace talks in three months
Sri Lanka's prime minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, says he expects peace talks with Tamil Tiger rebels will commence in three months.
The statement came ahead of the arrival in the island this week of foreign ceasefire monitors.
Following nearly two decades of conflict that claimed 64-thousand lives, observers from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark will monitor an indefinite truce signed last week by the government and guerrillas fighting for a separate minority Tamil state.
Mr Wickremesinghe told a news conference he thought the government and Tamil Tiger rebels would spend the next three months setting the agenda for talks through Norwegian mediators.
He said he was not saying no to anything except a separate state.
