Indian police seize another Kashmiri separatist leader
Police in Indian-administered Kashmir have arrested another senior leader of a pro-independence separatist group.
Javed Mir, the vice chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front or JKLF, was arrested in Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar at a tent where blood donations were being gathered for victims of the Kashmir conflict. Police have given no reasons for Mir's arrest.
Last week, Indian police arrested Yasin Malik, the chairman of the JKLF, after the seizure of 100-thousand dollars from two people who allegedly confessed to bringing the money illegally into Kashmir for the separatist leader. Malik has denied any links to the seized cash. The JKLF is calling for an independent Kashmir to be created from territory in the Himalayan region administered by India, Pakistan and China.
