Indian Prime Minister ends Cambodian trip

India's Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, has wrapped up his official engangements in Cambodia after offering to send judges to take part in the trial of the kingdom's Khmer Rouge leaders.

Mr Vajpayee told a news conference after meeting Cambodia's Prime Minister, Hun Sen, that if the United Nations doesn't help and Cambodia decides to go further in the matter, India will be ready to assist.

The U-N stunned Cambodia in February by abandoning its efforts to try the surviving leaders of the Khmer Rouge for genocide and crimes against humanity.

It claimed Cambodia was not capable of holding objective and impartial hearings.
