Four Canadian troops killed in so-called friendly fire accident

At least four Canadian soldiers have been killed and eight wounded, in a friendly fire training accident near the Afghan city of Kandahar.

Military officials say two of the soldiers have life threatening injuries.

The officials say a U-S Air National Guard F-16 dropped one or two bombs on the troops who were conducting a live-fire training exercise, south of the Kandahar airfield.

Military officials will launch an investigation into the incident.

Canada sent troops to Afghanistan in January to help in the US-led war against terrorism.
