Vietnamese vote for new National Assembly
Vietnamese voters will know next week the results of the weekend election for a new National Assembly.
The ruling Communist Party said its fight against corruption and the country's integration in the global economy were the top issues in the poll. The electorate of 40 million had limited choice in the one-party state where calls for pluralism remain a criminal offence.
Communist Party chief Nong Duc Manh said after voting the assembly should work for faster industrialisation and modernisation and a socialist state governed by the rule of law.
