Little hope of survivors from Taiwan plane crash Aviation officials in Taiwan say there's little hope of finding survivors after a China Airlines flight carrying 225 people crashed into the Taiwan Strait en route to Hong Kong. Weeping relatives swarmed the Taipei headquarters of China Airlines seeking news of their loved ones, but there was no sign that any of the 206 passengers and 19 crewmembers had survived. Flight 6-11 crashed into the Taiwan Straits shortly after take-off from Taipei International Airport . It's still not known why the 22-year-old Boeing 7-4-7 crashed, but airline officials said mechanical failure was unlikely as the control tower had not received a distress call. Unconfirmed reports say debris has been found inland, suggesting the plane broke up in mid-air before crashing into the sea. 26/05/2002 07:40:31 | ABC Radio Australia News
