Disease claims another eight lives in eastern India
Officials in India say eight more people have died from an unidentified disease in the east town of Siliguri, increasing the total death toll to 28.
A doctor, who contracted the disease while treating the victims, also died.
State health officials said a medical team left in a helicopter from West Bengal state capital Calcutta for Siliguri in view of the mounting death toll.
Officials said symptons of the disease include a high fever apparently caused by a mosquito bite.
