Laotian ambassador to Australia summoned over couples' imprisonment
The Laotian Ambassador to Australia has been summoned by government officials over the imprisonment of a Queensland couple in Laos for three months.
The Ambasador, Soutsakhone =SOOT-SAH-CON Pathammavong, =PAT-HAM-A-VONG is to have talks with officials of the Foreign Affairs Department, about Kerry and Kay Danes, who've been held without charge over the disappearance of gems.
The couple's lawyer, Ted Tsovaraz, =SUE-VAHH-RASS is also in Canberra, for separate talks with Foreign Affairs.
Mr Tzovaraz says the Laotian prosecutor is about to present a report on the Danes case to the Foreign Ministry in Vientiane.
A spokesman for Australian Foreign Affairs says the Laotian Ambassador has been called in because the Danes case is reaching crunch point.
