Indonesian politicians meet Megawati over cabinet line-up
Leading Indonesian politicians have held a closed-door meeting with President Megawati Sukarnoputri about the make-up of her new cabinet but said afterwards the announcement was likely to be delayed till next week.
The meeting at Megawati's official residence in Central Jakarta was attended by the leaders of the main political parties as well as several parliamentarians.
House Speaker Akbar Tanjung -- who also chairs the second largest political party, the former ruling Golkar -- said after the two-hour meeting that the politicians gave input on the cabinet but agreed that the final line-up was up to Megawati. Officials from Megawati's party say she plans a line-up representing most parties in recognition of the cross-party support that propelled the former vice-president to the top post.
