Diplomats press on with efforts to meet Taliban detainees

Western diplomats meeting in Pakistan have vowed to press on with efforts to gain consular access to eight foreigners, including two Australians, who've been detained in neighbouring Afghanistan for allegedly preaching Christianity.

The three diplomats left Kabul yesterday, after a week trying to gain permission to visit the Australians, two Americans, and four Germans.

The diplomats have also urged Afghanistan's ruling Taliban militia to allow Red Cross visits to the aid workers, who haven't been seen since their arrest earlier this month.
