New prince for Nepal

Nepal's King Gyanendra has declared his controversial son Paras Shah as the next in line for the throne of the Himalayan kingdom.

But the new Crown Prince has long been a widely disliked member of the Nepalese royal family.

He was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident last year which left a popular singer dead .. and has been involved in a number of incidents of drunken behaviour in public.

King Gyanendra assumed the throne in June after his brother was gunned down by his own son, Dipendra, along with eight members of the royal family.
