Cambodia's police chief says rebel group has been destroyed
Cambodia's police chief says the Cambodian Freedom Fighters militia, which last year mounted a failed coup attempt, has been largely dismantled after a two-month crackdown.
General Hok Lundy says he can guarantee that 90 percent of the CFF movement of US-based leader Chhun Yasith can no longer create insecurity in Cambodia.
In early September Cambodia's police force and military launched a crackdown aimed at wiping out the CFF which has vowed to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Authorities claim the rebels had planned to attack government installations and petrol stations in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Battambang during September.
