China interested in Fiji's resources: Li
China's fourth-ranking leader Li Ruihuan (lee rwee-HWAHN) says China is interested in Fijian resources such as fisheries, forestry and tourism.
Mr Li, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference -- a government advisory body -- is leading a 100-strong delegation on a state visit to Fiji.
Fiji's Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase has told Mr Li the country's sea resources are good for the Chinese market and his government is happy to work in partnership with China on this. Mr Qarase also assured Mr Li of Fiji's support and commitment to the 'one China' policy, saying even though Fiji has trade and economic ties with Taiwan, it's only in the context of Taiwan continuing to be an invisible part of China.
