Indonesian's Security Minister goes to strife torn Central Sulawesi

Indonesia's top security minister Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has visited a district in Central Sulawesi that has been torn by Muslim-Christian fighting, meeting religious, civic and youth leaders.

Mark Bowling reports as many as two thousand police and soldiers have been sent to the worst hit district where radical Muslim fighters have vowed to drive out all Christians.

The troops have been dispatched to the worst hit district around the towns of Poso and Tentena, where radical Muslims have vowed to drive out all Christians. Minister Yudhoyono says the troops will stay in strife torn central Sulawesi for six months. But tensions remain high with tens of thousands of people said to be living in fear of attack after clashes . Seven people have died in recent days and seven Christian villages damaged or destroyed. Hundreds of people have died in fighting between Christians and Muslims in the last two years but a new cycle of violence erupted after the arrival of thousands of armed Muslim radical members of the group Laska Jihad.
