Indonesian gov't apologises to Malaysia for riots by illegal immigrant
The Indonesian government has apologised to Malaysia for rioting by Indonesian illegal immigrants at a detention center in southern Malaysia last week.
About 30 people were injured when more than two-thousand mostly Indonesian inmates at the center in southern Johor state, went on a rampage for several hours, burning buildings and forcing riot police to fire tear gas.
Indonesia says it hopes Malaysia understands that Indonesian illegal immigrants went to Malaysia not to create trouble but to look for jobs.
The illegal immigrants have now been sent back to Indonesia on board an Indonesian navy ship.
