Nepal's King says anti-Maoist campaign going well
King Gyanendra says the campaign against Maoist insurgents is proving to be a success.
A dozen Maoist rebels and six civilians have been killed in the latest violence around Nepal. The rebels were killed in two encounters with troops attacking their western strongholds.
King Gyanendra saluted the armed forces in a speech broadcast over state radio. He approved the use of the army for the first time against the five-year-old Maoist insurgency after he assumed the throne in June, following the massacre of King Birendra and nine others by a drunken crown prince Dipendra.
