Vietnamese president to visit North Korea in May

Vietnam's President, Tran Duc Luong, will reportedly make a state visit to North Korea in May.

South Korea's Yonhap newsagency says it follows an invitation by North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and number two figure, Kim Young Nam.

Yonhap quotes a diplomatic source in Hanoi as saying President Luong's visit, the first by a Vietnamese leader to Pyongyang since Vietnam and South Korea normalized diplomatic ties in 1992, will be in return for Kim Yong Nam's visit to Hanoi last July.
