U-S donates food aid to famine-hit North Korea

The United States is donating more than 100-thousand tonnes of food to North Korea.

A U-S State Department spokesman says the donation is in response to a United Nations call for urgent aid as North Korea battles famine and drought.

The donation includes soybeans, vegetable oil, wheat and rice.

America says it has now donated 1.8-million tonnes of food aid to North Korea since 1995, worth 1.2-Billion dollars.
