South East Asia leaders launch trade talks

A meeting of the prime ministers of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam aimed at promoting economic development between the three countries has begun in Ho Chi Minh City.

The one-day meeting aims to create a so-called "triangle of development" to enable the three countries to better share natural and economic resources.

Projects under consideration include cross-border sharing of electrical, water, transport and labour resources in areas surrounding the Mekong River.

The three premiers will also discuss safety issues on their common borders, focusing on crime and terrorism.
