East Timor moves away from presidential system
East Timor's Constituent Assembly has approved a draft constitution.
Officials say the draft envisions a government run along parliamentary rather than presidential lines.
An earlier version had called for a president with extensive powers.
Officials will distribute copies of the draft constitution to get feedback from ordinary citizens before the assembly formally approves the document, expected early next month.
