Christian and Muslim leaders in Indonesia agree on truce Christian and Muslim leaders in Indonesia have agreed to a truce, aimed at ending three years of bloodshed in the eastern Maluku Islands. "Christian and Muslim leaders have ended two days of peace talks vowing to stop all forms of conflicts and disputes under an 11-point agreement, which provides for the disarming and banning of militias, establishment of joint security patrols, the return of refugees to their homes, the return of property and reconstruction. Two independent commissions for security and for social and economic affairs will be set-up to monitor the truce. Indonesian leaders hope that if this truce holds it could lead to peace in other trouble spots and help rebuild investor confidence right across the archipelago. 13/02/2002 09:17:11 | ABC Radio Australia News
