A Scandinavian team will monitor Sri lankan ceasefire
A Norwegian-led Scandinavian team will monitor Sri Lanka's ceasefire with Tamil Tiger rebels after talks with both parties.
The Sri Lankan government says the head of the monitoring team will first have talks with the London-based chief negotiator of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
Then the chief peace monitor will travel to Colombo next Saturday and get to work after talks with Prime Minister Wickremesinghe.
Norwegian negotiators clinched an open-ended bilateral truce between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE last Friday clearing the way for political talks aimed at ending decades of ethnic bloodshed.
