Two children among 17 killed in Indian Kashmir
Two children are among 17 people killed and 28 injured in violence across Indian Kashmir.
Police say the two children died when a grenade they were playing with exploded near the southern Kashmir town of Pulwama, where earlier militants and Indian security forces had been engaged in a fierce gun battle. Two separatist Muslim militants were killed in the shoot-out.
Another 25 people -- all civilians and some of them children -- were injured in the grenade explosion.
Security forces shot dead four more militants elsewhere in Kashmir in separate encounters, while suspected militants shot dead five people, including a mother and son in the Rajouri and Doda districts.
