Assistant says condition of former Indonesian leader, stable
The condition of former Indonesian president Suharto is reportedly stable.
The A-F-P newsagency quotes his personal assistant as saying however that a stomach disorder is still causing internal bleeding.
A-F-P says 80-year-old Mr Suharto began experiencing stomach problems on Tuesday and his physicians later diagnosed an internal haemorrhage.
He has mostly been confined to his home in central Jakarta since he resigned in May 1998 after more than three decades in power.
His youngest son, Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra -- currently detained in Jakarta's Cipinang jail where he is awaiting trial for murder -- was allowed to visit his father late on Thursday.
Tommy, who was handcuffed and guarded by 10 policemen, stayed with his father for three hours.
