Indonesia should offer aid and prayers says vice president
Indonesia's Vice President, Hamzah Haz, says his country's muslims should offer humanitarian aid and prayer rather than going to the West Bank to fight alongside Palestinians.
Jakarta has condemned the Israeli action but has not banned would-be volunteers from trying to travel to the Palestinian territories to fight against Israel. Several Muslim groups in Indonesia, including the militant Front for the Defenders of Islam and the Islamic Youth Movement, have opened registration for volunteers to fight with the Palestinians. Mr Haz said the government would NOT provide assistance for would-be volunteers.
Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-populated nation with more than 80 percent of its 216 million people following Islam, has no diplomatic ties with Israel.
