Singapore PM in Indonesian warning over militants
Singapore's Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong has warned Indonesia it will suffer if it fails to reign in militants suspected of links to international terror networks.
Mr Goh told executives of the Asia News Network, Indonesian interests and regional interests are threatened bu the objectives of theinternational terrorist network.
Singapore has enraged Indonesians with remarks by Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew in February that terrorists were operating there.
The Singapore embassy in Jakarta later said that Lee was referring to Indonesian Mujahedin Council chairman Abu Bakar Ba'asyir, a hardline Muslim cleric whom authorities in Singapore and Malaysia have named as the leader of a regional radical Islamic network, Jemaah Islamiah.
Singapore has arrested some 13 people allegedly belonging to the Jemaah Islamiah, under its Internal Security Act, but Mr Goh says police lost track of other Jemaah Islamiah members it's been monitoring after they entered Indonesia.
