Thailand's opposition parties put final touches to no-confidence

Thailand's opposition parties are putting the final touches to a no-confidence motion against the government which they expect to submit this week.

Opposition whip, Jurin Laksanavisit, said the Democrats and Party of the People were ready to submit the motion in a rebuff to the administration of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Mr Thaksin's Thai Rak Thai party outsed a Democrat-led coalition in landslide January 2001 elections.

Mr Jurin said the government had worked for more than a year and it was now time to check their progress.
.
Analysts say with Thak Rak Thai holding an unprecedented majority in parliament even without the assistance of its coalition partners, the opposition has no chance of unseating the government.
