Salvage ships search for sunken Bangladesh ferry

Bangladesh has announced a ten-day ban on ferries carrying more than 150 passengers following another ferry accident in which at least 60 people drowned.

The government says the ban is aimed at avoiding accidents during the stormy season.

So far, only five bodies have been found following Thursday's accident when a ferry, carying some 100 people, sank in a storm.

Salvage ships have now begun searching for the sunken ferry.

Police believe it could be resting on a river bed some 30 feet under water.

The latest sinking comes just three weeks after a similar accident killed nearly 500 people.
