India and Pakistan at odds over cricket series

India's cricket officials have reacted angrily to Pakistan's threat to snap cricketing ties after New Delhi's refusal to take part in next month's Sharjah tri-series.

Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India Jayawant Lele said the decision not to go to Sharjah was taken by the government and not by cricket officials.

He said the Board cannot go against the wishes of the government.

Pakistan said on Sunday it would never play India again at cricket in response to the Indian government's decision to pull out of the April 8-20 one-day tournament also featuring Sri Lanka.
