China hails US defeat at UN Human Rights Commission
Chinese human rights experts have welcomed the failure of the US to retain a seat on the United Nations Human Rights commission.
The Xinhua news agency quotes local observers as saying the defeat reflected frustration among a growing number of nations at the US' use of human rights as an excuse for criticising other countries,
It said people across the world had long been angry with the arrogance of the United States and its practice of imposing its own human rights standards on others.
The US was voted off the commission on Thursday, polling last among four candidates for three seats in its regional group.
