Newspaper editor and publisher charged with treason in Nepal

The editor of a leading Nepal daily newspaper and two colleagues have been charged with treason, hours after a minister issued a stern warning over media coverage of last week's royal massacre.

Yuvraj Gimre was arrested together with the managing director of the Nepali-language Kantipur Daily, Kailash Sirohiya, and publisher Vinod Ghiwali.

This came as the government of Nepal announceed that a night-time curfew will be re-imposed on the capital, Kathmandu.

The Nepalese Home Ministry says the curfew will last until three o'clock on Thursday morning.

It will be the third curfew imposed since violent protests broke out in the city on Monday in the wake of a shooting incident that wiped out most of the royal family, including King Birendra, on Friday.
