Indonesian President to announce new Cabinet

After being sworn in as Indonesia's new president more than two weeks ago, Megawati Sukarnoputri is expected to announce her cabinet today.

There's been concern about the delay in naming the new team, as Mark Bowling reports:

Aides to President Megawati have down-played claims that tough bargaining has caused the delay, demands for cabinet positions coming from Indonesia's political parties, which backed Megawati for the presidency after Abdurrahman Wahid was ousted as leader. In a country still in economic crisis, there's been intense pressure on President Megawati to choose a strong and capable cabinet. During the last two years, scores of Cabinet ministers and senior bureaucrats have been sacked or lost their positions, eroding confidence in a country already in economic crisis. Most analysts expect a cabinet made up of senior members of the leading political parties, some retired generals and government financial and economic experts.
