US mining company says will appeal Indonesia's court ruling
The American-owned mining company, Freeport, will appeal against an Indonesian court ruling that the company lied about a fatal industrial accident.
The South Jakarta District Court ruled in favor of the Indonesian environmental group, Walhi.
The court found the firm made misleading statements about the accident last year at the Grasberg mine in West Papua province, also known as Irian Jaya, in which four people are thought to have died.
In a statement, the company says it will appeal against the court ruling and that all its operations in Indonesia complied with government regulations.
