Shares mised in Asian trading

Trading on Asian stock markets has staged a modest recovery, while European markets opened almost unchanged.

Market activity in both Asia and Europe was subdued as investors awaited the reopening of U-S stock exchanges, which are to remain closed until at least Friday.

Asian markets ended mostly higher with advances in South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and several other cities.

However, the gains were tempered by plunges in markets that reopened after remaining closed following the airborne attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
