Cambodian monks and nuns urge America to act with caution over attacks
Cambodian Buddhist monks and nuns have urged leaders of the United States and its allies Sunday to act with the greatest possible wisdom in their response to terrorist attacks.
Some 150 monks, nuns and other Cambodians expressed their opposition to war at a peace rally organized by eight local non-governmental organizations at a school compound in Phnom Penh.
Lao Mong Hay, a director of Khmer Institute of Democracy, says the U.S. government should exercise restraint and that punishing the attackers must be proportionate with their acts, but not done with excess.
Other speakers at the rally said that the attackers must be held responsible for their acts, but warned that any U.S.-led military action could inflict more harm on innocent civilians and inspire more terrorist attacks.
