East Timor to have full government by May
East Timor's provisional parliament has reportedly approved a recommendation that the emerging nation should take over the full reigns of government on May the 20th next year
The Constituent Assembly, elected in the former Portuguese colony's first free elections on August the 30th, is still in the process of hammering out a constitution for the new country.
An official says parliament is convinced all procedures will be finished in plenty of time for an East Timorese government to take over from the U.N. Transitional Authority in East Timor next May.
The recommendation will be passed to the Authority's leadership soon for discussion and implementation.
