Vietnamese refugees cross back into their country from Cambodia
The United Nations has started repatriating Hill tribe people who sought asylum in Cambodia as a result of trouble in their Vietnamese homelands last year.
The repatriation of 15 people was first of more than 1,000 asylum seekers, who fled a crackdown on minority protests in the Central Highlands in 2001.
Officials for the U.N. agency say that a further 94 have volunteered to return.
U.S-based Human Rights Watch and Washington have criticised the repatriation plan, which they say is being conducted without adequate monitoring of the situation in the highlands and without guarantees of access to the returnees once they arrive in Vietnam.
Hanoi has accused the U.S. of trying to sow unrest in the Central Highlands after it resettled the first 38 hilltribe members to escape the crackdown in America.
