Muslims stage peaceful protest in Indonesia
About 5,000 Muslims have staged a peaceful protest in Indonesia's second largest city, Surabaya, to urge the United States to stop the military strikes against Afghanistan.
The protestors marched through the city thoroughfares toward the governor's office, denouncing the US as "the real terrorist". The protestors, from the small Muslim-based Justice Party, urged the United Nations to convene an emergency session to end the strikes in Afghanistan. On October 19 members of the Justice Party staged the largest anti-US protest in Indonesia, when an estimated 10,000 marched peacefully through Jakarta.
