Afghan delegates agree to strike deal in 3-5 days: UN

Meanwhile, the United Nations says all four Afghan groups at the Bonn conference have agreed to strike a deal on a transitional government for Afghanistan within three to five days.

UN spokesman Ahmad Fawzi (AH-muhd FOW-zee) says the participants have agreed to an agenda calling for the formation of an Interim Supreme Council of 20 members, which would run the country for three to six months.

Mr Fawzi says the agenda also calls for the formation of an interim administration - a kind of parliament - and the eventual formation of a grand council of elders charged with drawing up a new constitution.
