Russia says Chinese national was spying on missile systems

Russian security officials say that a Chinese national sentenced to a ten-year jail term for spying had been collecting details about the precise locations of ballistic missiles and defense systems in Siberia.

They say the unnamed Chinese national, who was sentenced in the Siberian city of Irkutsk in May, was spying on the modern Topol-M inter-continental ballistic missiles and high-tech S-400 air defense systems.

The May sentence came in after a Russian space scientist was arrested in February for spying for China, he was charged with high treason, and is facing a penalty of up to 20 years in jail for allegedly passing on top secret and classified information.
