20 Chinese miners killed in gas explosion

In China's eastern Jiangxi province, twenty miners were killed in a natural gas explosion at a coal mine.

The Xinhua news agency says twenty-four miners were also injured in the accident.

The cause of the blast is under investigation.

Mining accidents in small, individually-operated mines dotted throughout China have killed over 5,000 people this year.

A coal mine explosion last week, killed 16 miners in eastern Shandong province.
