Wife of former Indonesian president denies bribery claims

The wife of former Indonesian president Abdurrahman Wahid has denied claims that she received money from the youngest son of former President Suharto, as he allegedly attempted to buy a presidential pardon.

Sinta Nuriyah, who was questioned by police in relation to bribery claims, says the foundation she leads had never received funds "directly or indirectly" from Tommy Suharto.

Tommy Suharto's lawyer Elza Syarief and former Jakarta police chief Inspector-General Sofyan Jacoeb had publicly alleged that the foundation received over 480-thousand dollars.

Tommy Suharto, who was sentenced to 18 months for corruption, had allegedly paid two men thousands of dollars to buy a presidential pardon.
